Job Title: HR Generalist

Role Overview
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the HR Department including recruitment, onboarding and orientation of new employees.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for assisting with benefit administration, enforcing company policies, accident/incident investigations, attendance and other administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
HR Operations and Payroll Support
  • Execute bi-weekly payroll for both MN locations using ADP, ensuring data integrity for hours and deductions.
  • Manage the processing of all wage garnishments (child support, tax levies, etc.), ensuring compliance with legal withholding limits and timelines.
  • Ensure all benefit elections, changes, and terminations are entered properly into the system and synced with payroll to prevent deduction errors.
  • Maintain all employee records, ensuring files are audit-ready at all times.


Recruitment & Talent Support
  • Support the HR Manager and Plant Managers by posting job requisitions, screening candidates, and conducting and scheduling interviews for open roles.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all paperwork and orientation tasks are completed for both sites.

Employee Relations & Compliance Assistance
  • Act as a reliable point of contact for employee questions regarding company policies, benefits, and payroll.
  • Assist the HR Manager in documenting workplace investigations and maintaining compliance with MN state labor laws.
  • Act as a "culture champion" on the floor to identify opportunities to improve the employee experience and boost retention.

Site Coordination
  • Be the "face of HR" on the floor in Alexandria and Sauk Centre.  
  • Organize and lead key on-site events such as Lunches, Breakfasts, Town Halls, and holiday celebrations for Standard Iron Minnesota.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Education/Experience: 2–4 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Systems: Proficiency with ADP is a must-have.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both the production floor and management.
  • Team Player: A desire to work in a collaborative environment where you report to and learn from an experienced HR Manager.

  • Monday – Thursday: 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (Yes, you read that right—you have Friday afternoons off!)
