Job Responsibilities:
- Production Oversight: Manage daily operations for metal processing tracks, including laser/plasma cutting (profiling), press brake and rolling (forming), and CNC milling or drilling (machining).
- Technical Guidance: Interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints to establish accurate fabrication sequences and maintain strict tolerances.
- Team Leadership: Supervise a team of fabricators and machinists, assigning tasks based on the production schedule and providing hands-on mentorship.
- Quality & Safety: Conduct final inspections of components and enforce strict adherence to OSHA/MIOSHA safety standards and ISO quality protocols.
- Workflow Optimization: Identify bottlenecks in the forming or machining stages and implement improvements to increase efficiency
- Ensure that all employees are wearing the proper PPE and adhere to the safety protocols of Standard Iron’s safety program.
- Monitor work area setups to ensure they are ergonomically correct and minimize unnecessary movements.
- Assist employees that are having quality issues by providing possible solutions toward resolution of problems.
- Monitor machine efficiencies, ensuring that equipment is running at optimum levels.
- Assist with scheduling work for the Laser, Turret, Press Brake and Machining departments.
- Work Closely with Material Handler to ensure that employees have the necessary parts and tools to perform their assigned tasks.
- Operate lasers and press brake controllers
- Suggest improvements that demonstrate our Continuous Improvement Core Value.
- Participate/Lead DVM’s in their Department
- Be courteous to others by treating them with the utmost respect.
- Fill in for Supervisor when they are absent.
- Assist Supervisor with employee reviews.
- Promote a sense of urgency and efficiency within the department.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications:
- Ability to have 24/7 Safety Conversations when employees are preforming a safe or unsafe act.
- Able to read complex blueprints
- Able to perform second person signoffs in all work centers in their department.
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.
- Must have good knowledge of equipment and its safe operation.
- Good communications skills
- 2-4 years of manufacturing experience
- Press brake experience preferred
