Standard Iron is a trusted leader in contract manufacturing with over 90 years of experience. We are looking for a skilled Saw Operator to join our production team in Alexandria. In this role, you will be a key part of our manufacturing process, ensuring raw materials are precisely cut to support our fabrication and welding teams. Key Responsibilities
Saw Operation & Setup: Set up and operate industrial saws (such as band saws or CNC-controlled saws) to cut steel tubing, plate, and other metal materials to precise specifications.
Blueprint Reading: Interpret engineering prints and work orders to determine required dimensions, material types, and production sequences.
Material Handling: Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to load/unload raw material or bundles onto next production stage.
Quality Control: Can use precision tools like calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify that all cuts meet strict tolerances and quality standards.
Maintenance: Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and replacing worn saw blades.
Safety & Organization: Adhere to all OSHA safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications
Technical Skills: Proven ability to read and interpret technical blueprints or part drawings.
Equipment Experience: Prior experience operating industrial saws in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
Certifications: Must be able to obtain or hold certification for powered lift trucks (forklifts) and have experience with overhead crane operation.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts (up to 10 hours) and regularly lift or move heavy materials (up to 50–75 lbs).
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
