Job Purpose and Reporting Structure

The Brake Press Operator is responsible for producing defect‑free parts on time and at the lowest possible cost, while minimizing environmental impact through waste reduction and exposure prevention.

This position reports to the Department Manager or Facility Supervisor/ 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow and execute work according to specified instructions, including sequence‑based controls, work instructions, and engineering drawings.

  • Perform proper machine start‑up and shut‑down procedures.

  • Set up, load, and operate brake or punch press equipment according to planned configurations.

  • Evaluate product quality, identify issues, and take corrective actions to prevent external defects or dimensional problems.

  • Select and use appropriate metal‑finishing tools (grinders, abrasives, etc.) to meet surface‑finish requirements.

  • Safely operate material‑handling equipment such as cranes, positioners, magnets, and hooks.

  • Use material‑control devices including fixtures, templates, and related tools.

  • Maintain safe and responsible work practices at all times.

Marginal Job Functions

  • Perform additional execution‑related tasks as needed.

  • Participate in organizing, controlling, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.

Qualification Requirements

  • Achieve a score of 100% on the forming and general shop assessment within one week of job placement.

Education and Experience

  • Previous forming experience is highly preferred.
    CNC programming for Press Brake is strongly preferred.
