Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize paint and coating processes for manufacturing or production environments
- Select appropriate paint materials, coatings, and application methods based on product requirements
- Monitor and improve paint application quality, including adhesion, thickness, durability, and finish consistency
- Troubleshoot coating defects and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Conduct testing and analysis of coatings, including corrosion resistance and environmental durability
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations (e.g., VOC standards)
- Maintain documentation for processes, specifications, and quality standards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost-reduction efforts
- Work with suppliers to evaluate new materials and technologies
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with industrial painting/coating systems (e.g., spray, powder coating, electrocoating)
- Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and coating chemistry
- Familiarity with quality control methods and inspection tools
- Understanding of environmental and safety regulations related to coatings
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, or heavy manufacturing industries
- Knowledge of robotic paint systems or automated application technologies
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience
- Certification in coatings or corrosion engineering (e.g., NACE)
- Manufacturing or production facility setting
- May require time on the shop floor and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Occasional exposure to chemicals, fumes, and varying temperatures
